Brief Description :  Hiawatha emergency services building is a 2 story building with 4 truck bays, offices, and a meeting room.

Foundations :  The foundations were designed as reinforced concrete foundations, and required a heavy-duty interior slab on grade in truck bays.

Superstructure : The superstructure was a combination of wood framed and structural steel.  Lateral loads were resisted primarily by wood framed shearwalls with independent hold-downs and steel moment frames. 

Highlights : High stud wall framing; partial second floor area created diaphragm discontinuities to address; ceiling profile varied requiring multiple end wall framing solutions; truck door wall required integrating wood shearwalls into a steel moment frame; Ontario Building Code post disaster designation.
